Flooring software for UK retailers, focused on the measure diary
Most flooring software either tries to run your whole business or ignores the part that actually costs you money: getting an estimator to the right house at the right time. Floorcast starts there, and is deliberately narrow while it is in early access.
What Floorcast does today
Everything below is in the product now. Nothing on this page describes a plan or a roadmap item.
- A shared measure diary the showroom counter and the estimator both work from, travel blocks included.
- Right-sized home-measure durations built from rooms, stairs, landings and product type.
- Route-aware slot suggestions ranked by how much extra drive time each option adds to that estimator's day.
- Manual control when you need it: book an exact time, click an empty gap, drag a visit, or lock a day once the van has left.
- Customers and jobs tracked from the measure through quoting to the order, with flooring groups per area.
- Pipeline, conversion and outcome reporting built from your own diary rather than typed-up figures.
- Quick Quote for a priced quotation on the counter, with a printable customer copy.
- Fitting payment calculations for fitters and crews, with a printable wage report.
Where Floorcast fits well
- You measure in customers' homes and travel is a real cost in the working day.
- Your diary lives on paper, a whiteboard or a shared calendar and nobody quite trusts it.
- Showroom staff book measures without knowing where the estimator already is.
- You cannot easily answer how many measures converted to orders last month.
What Floorcast is not
Being clear about this saves everyone a wasted demo. Floorcast is not an ERP, not a stock or warehouse system, not an accounting or invoicing platform, and not a take-off or drawing tool. It does not use live traffic data — travel times are estimates while fallback routing is in use.
Questions worth asking any flooring software supplier
- How does it decide how long a measure takes, and can we change that?
- Can the counter see the estimator's real day, including travel, before promising a time?
- What happens when a customer moves an appointment at short notice?
- Can we book an exact time manually when a customer insists?
- What reporting comes out of the diary without extra data entry?
- What does it deliberately not do, and what would we still keep elsewhere?
Questions retailers ask
- Is Floorcast a complete flooring ERP?
- No. Floorcast covers measure booking, the estimator diary, customers and jobs, quoting and fitting pay calculations. It does not hold stock, do your accounts, produce take-off drawings or raise invoices.
- Who is Floorcast built for?
- Independent UK flooring and carpet retailers who send estimators out to measure in customers' homes, typically with one showroom and between one and a handful of estimators.
- What does early access mean in practice?
- We are working with a small number of retailers while the product is still developing. You get the live software and direct input into what we build next; you should expect changes and gaps.
- Do we need to replace our existing systems?
- No. Most retailers keep their accounting and supplier ordering as they are and use Floorcast for the measure diary, job progress and reporting.
- How are measure durations decided?
- From the job itself — the number of rooms, whether stairs and landings are included, and the product type — rather than a fixed one-hour slot for everything.
- Can showroom staff and estimators both use it?
- Yes. Roles separate what showroom staff, estimators and administrators can see and change, but everyone works from the same diary.
