Scheduling software for flooring home measures
A generic calendar treats every appointment as an hour in a box. Flooring measures are not like that: a four-bedroom house with stairs takes far longer than one room of vinyl, and the drive between two jobs can cost more than the measure itself.
How a booking is made
- Enter the customer, the address and the areas to be measured, grouped by flooring type.
- Floorcast works out how long the visit should take from the rooms, stairs, landings and product type.
- Suggested times come back ranked, or you set an exact date and time yourself.
- The visit is written into the shared diary with travel either side and the job record attached.
Why durations matter more than they look
Under-sizing a measure is how a day falls apart: the estimator overruns, the next customer waits, and the final visit gets rushed or rearranged. Sizing from the actual areas means the diary you look at on Monday is close to the day that gets driven on Thursday.
Travel blocks and clash protection
Travel is drawn into the day rather than left as an assumption, and two live visits cannot overlap for the same estimator. When a slot has genuinely gone, you are told plainly. Cancelling a measure frees the slot for a replacement without deleting the customer's history.
Where a generic calendar stops
- It cannot tell you how long a measure should be.
- It has no idea where the estimator already is.
- It holds no customer, area or product context.
- It produces no conversion or outcome reporting.
- It lets anyone put two jobs in the same hour.
Questions retailers ask
- What does Floorcast schedule?
- Home measures and inspections carried out by your estimators, plus diary blocks for anything else that takes their time. It is not a general field-service scheduler for fitting crews' day-to-day work.
- How are clashes handled?
- Two live visits cannot overlap for the same estimator. If you try, you get a plain explanation rather than a silent double-booking, and cancelled visits release their slot.
- Can showroom staff book without training?
- Booking is a short form: customer, address, the areas to measure, then pick from suggested times or set an exact one. The duration is worked out for them.
- Does it show travel between appointments?
- Yes. Travel appears as blocks around the visit so the day on screen resembles the day the estimator will drive. Travel times are estimates while fallback routing is in use, not live traffic.
- What if a customer needs to move an appointment?
- Reschedule to a suggested or exact time, or drag the visit in the diary. The customer, areas and job history follow the appointment.
- Can we restrict who changes the schedule?
- Yes. Roles decide who can book, move, lock days and record outcomes, and administrators can move any non-cancelled appointment when they need to.
