An estimator diary that replaces the paper one
Paper diaries and shared calendars both fail in the same way: the person taking the booking cannot see the day the estimator is actually going to drive. Floorcast is a measure diary that understands what a home measure involves.
Visits sized on the real job, not a standard hour
When you book a measure you record the areas: how many rooms, whether there are stairs and landings, and the product type for each area. Floorcast uses that to set the length of the visit, so a hall, stairs and landing in carpet does not get the same slot as one bedroom in vinyl.
The counter and the van see the same week
One diary, shared. Showroom staff booking at the counter see the estimator's committed visits and the travel blocks between them. Estimators see their own day in order, with the address, the areas and the notes they need on the doorstep.
- Week view with an optional weekend toggle and per-estimator selection.
- Cards that change density with the length of the visit, showing the town and check-in state at a glance.
- A phone-friendly day view with check-in and check-out.
- Company noticeboard updates beside the diary so the team sees what matters that week.
Manual control stays with you
Suggested slots are a help, not a rule. Book an exact time when the customer insists, click an empty gap, drag a visit to a better time, add a diary block for a holiday or a fitting supervision, and lock a day when it is settled.
Customer and job context attached to the visit
Each measure carries the customer, the address, the areas and their flooring groups, any product and supply details prefilled from your price list, and the outcome afterwards. When the measure becomes a quote and then an order, the job stage moves with it — so follow-ups and conversion reporting come out of the diary rather than a separate spreadsheet.
Questions retailers ask
- How is this different from a shared Google or Outlook calendar?
- A calendar stores whatever you type. Floorcast knows a measure is a measure: it sizes the visit from the rooms, stairs, landings and product type, shows the travel either side of it, and keeps the customer and job attached to it.
- Can we still book an exact time a customer asks for?
- Yes. You can book an exact date and time, click an empty gap in the diary, or drag a visit to a new slot. Genuine double-bookings of the same estimator are blocked rather than quietly allowed.
- What happens on the day if the estimator runs late?
- The estimator checks in and out of visits from their own day view, so the counter can see what has actually happened rather than ringing to ask.
- Can a day be protected once the estimator has set off?
- Yes. An administrator can lock a day so showroom staff cannot add or move work into it. Estimators can still move their own booked visits on a locked day.
- Does the diary work on a phone in the van?
- Yes. There is a day view built for phones, with the visit details, addresses and areas to measure, and it can be installed to the home screen.
- What happens to a cancelled measure?
- It disappears from the week diary so the slot is genuinely free, but the customer and appointment history stay in your records and reporting.
